Coral Crystal is a useful but rare material to craft with in Monster Hunter World. Many high level weapons, armor sets, and Charms require a large number of crystals to be made and upgraded. Therefore it’s in your best interest to know the most efficient method of farming crystals.

Which method you use is largely based on which ones is available to you depending on your progress in the game, which monsters are easiest or most interesting for you to grind, and so on.
10 What A Bunch Of Abalone
In this quest you’re tasked with gathering 10 Super Abalone from the hunting grounds of a Tzitzi-Ya-Ku. For your troubles you have a 7% chance of getting two Coral Crystals and 3,600 gold. This ranks low because the chance rate is abysmal and the standard reward is rather small.
If you do use this quest to grind for Coral Crystals it’s strongly advised you get Geologist up to level two. This improves gathering speed for Super Abalone cutting down on the grind time a little bit.
9 Troubled Troupers
In this mission you’re tasked with hunting down two Tzitzi-Ya-Ku. Like the previous quest you have a 7% chance of getting two Coral Crystals as a reward, but you get 9,000 gold. It’s also handy if you plan on farming Tzitzi-Ya-Kus to make their armor or craft certain weapons.
Still 7% isn’t much and if your primary goal is getting crystals there are much better options. This just might be a little more interesting than gathering Super Abalone and the gold payout is certainly better which is why it ranks a bit higher.
8 Ballooning Problems
Ballooning Problems raises your chance of getting a single Coral Crystal to 12%, but unfortunately it’s a story mission that can’t be farmed which is why it ranks lower. Your task is to take down the Paolumu.
Obviously you’ll be doing it anyway so you might as well roll the dice and see if you get a Coral Crystal while you’re progressing. But as far as farming goes this is a one off that doesn’t rank very high.
7 Legiana: Embodiment Of Elegance
This quest is similar to Ballooning Problems in that because it’s an assignment you can only do it once. It does have the same 12% to get a single Coral Crystal, but the difference is that you get 5,400 gold for your troubles.

You’re tasked with hunting down a Legiana which is a better monster to hunt than the Paolumu because its drops are for a number of weapons and the armor it produces is less silly to look at. Again not great for farming purposes, but something you shouldn’t ignore either.
6 A Tzitzi For Science
A Tzitzi For Science is a repeatable mission that has a 12% chance of rewarding you with a single Coral Crystal. You must hunt a Tzitzi-Ya-Ku and you’ll be paid 3,240 gold for it. This is certainly a step up from the farmable missions that offer 7%, but there are much better ways to get the Crystal you need.
If you need to hunt the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku while grinding for Crystals then this is the mission you want to be farming as it gives you the best chances and the best reward for this particular hunt.
5 White Monster For A White Coat
This is the only quest on this list where you aren’t sent to hunt a monster, but instead you’re meant to capture one. For 5,760 gold and a 12% chance to get a Coral Crystal you must capture the Paolumu.
If you have an easier time capturing this monster versus hunting it then this is your mission, but honestly it’s not as worth it considering you’re missing out on carving opportunities for loot drops when the beast is slain.
4 Sorry You’re Not Invited
If you find yourself preferring to hunt the Paolumu in your quest for Coral Crystals than this is the best mission to do it. For a 12% chance of a single Crystal and 4,320 gold you are tasked with hunting one Paolumu.
If you want to craft the strange fluffy armor then this is worth your time, but there are better methods for farming if Crystals are all you’re after.
3 A Humid Headache
In A Humid Headache you have that familiar 12% chance to be rewarded with a crystal, this time for hunting a Legiana. You’ll also get 5,400 gold for your troubles which isn’t too shabby.

While Legania armor is cool looking and grinding this quest for a time might certainly be worth your time for a while, it still pales wildly in comparison to the top two methods for farming crystals. Get what you need to craft your armor and move on to one of the next methods.
2 Gone In A Flash
Gone In A Flash is the single best quest you can farm over and over again for Coral Crystal. It has a 22% chance of rewarding you with a single Crystal, which is the best odds you’re going to get. You also get a hefty 9,000 gold for your troubles each time. The only downside is that you must slay a Kirin to get it, one of the hardest monsters in the game.
If you’re equipped for tackling an Elder Dragan and want the awesome Kirin armor then absolutely go for it. But if you find the electrical unicorn to be too tough to grind effectively then go back to one of the others until you’re ready or do something much easier and much more efficient to get those Crystals.
1 Coral Highlands
The best way to farm Coral Crystals in this game is to simply pick them up from the dozens of resource nodes in the Coral Highlands. The Mining Spots in this region have a semi-rare chance of dropping a Crystal when mined.
The idea is to map out a route to run through the region mining each spot you come across, once you reach the end of the run you’ll find the mining areas have respawned allowing you to start over again. Admittedly this probably isn’t the most fun way of getting Crystals, but it’s certainly the easiest and most efficient.
